Session II: Mixed Precision for Exascale Comparative Genomics

Mixed precision has gained significant attention in the HPC community recently owing to the availability of extreme-performance reduced precision hardware such as NVIDIA’s Tensor Cores.  In this talk we describe efforts to accelerate the CoMet comparative genomics application using reduced precision compute hardware.  Methods for incorporating mixed precision calculations with no loss of solution accuracy are presented, and performance results on the ORNL Summit system are given.
